Rapa Nui
The island is about 24.6 km (15.3 mi) long by 12.3 km (7.6 mi) at its widest point; its overall shape is triangular. It has an area of 163.6 square kilometers (63.2 sq. mi), and a maximum altitude of 507 meters (1,663 ft.)
Conference Location
The conference will be held at the Hotel Hangaroa.
Entrance Fee
If you plan to visit the island’s national park, you can buy the ticket at the airport upon arrival or at the CONAF office (Mon to Sun from 9 until 16 hrs). The price of the ticket is USD 60 for adults, USD 10 for children under 12 and it’s valid for 5 days.
Climate
Rapa Nui is warm and moderately humid all year round. The lowest temperatures are recorded in July and August (18 °C or 64 °F) and the highest in February (max. temp. 28 °C or 82 °F), the summer season in the southern hemisphere. Winters are mild. The rainiest month is May, though rainfall is brief and sporadic, spreading throughout the year. Because of its isolated location it is exposed to winds, which help to keep the temperature fairly cool.

What to bring
Hat for the sun; sunglasses; sunscreen; light waterproof rain jacket, poncho or collapsible umbrella; comfortable walking shoes with rubber soles, since most people find tennis shoes or sneakers suitable (bring two pairs); bathing suit.
